Description

Introducing the Budi G from Vemuram, an incredible boutique boost pedal already widely used by session pros and seasoned veterans in the gigging circuit. This pedal is incredible for tone-shaping, solo boosts, and even adding saturation!

You'd be mistaken to think this is just a boost pedal. Featuring a 2-Band EQ, a Gain control which adds a "gritty" gain structure into the boost and a trim-pot that controls how much saturation it adds, it is an incredible tone-shaping tool for any musician and genre, all encased in a premium Bronze housing, for a premium look to match its sound.

Everyone here at WM who has tested this pedal has been blown away by how dynamically responsive the Budi G is and how easy it is to plug in and play to get an awesome and full tone.

From Vemuram:

The “Budi-G" is a new boost pedal followed by the legacy model the “Budi”.
The "Budi-G" is wide in range and has a large amount of headroom. Compared to the general clean boost pedals, our feature is being able to control the “Gritty Gain” which is subtle but has the perfect amount of grit for this new boost pedal. Being able to control the subtle gain, it stacks very well with other drive pedals and lets you push your tube amp without lacking the bold and rich tone in a natural-sounding way. The "Budi-G" is versatile and very dynamic, it is equipped with 2 band EQs (Bass & Treble) and a SAT(saturation) trim pot which allows you to fine-tune and control your equipment and gear. Please enjoy the "Budi-G" to obtain the “GRIT” to your sound.

Our Thoughts

The Budi G is THE boost pedal for me, I didn't have any experience with Vemuram personally apart from through friends in the session world proclaiming their greatness. My expectations were set pretty high and, safe to say, they were thoroughly surpassed, initially using a Woodstock strat with a base clean tone, when the pedal was engaged it accentuated all of the wonderful aspects of the tone whilst also taming some of the harsh glassy nature you'd expect from any strat. That was with all settings set to the middle, even though it has a great 2-band EQ to fine-tune your sound.

One of my favourite things is the saturation trim-pot. It does what it says on the tin and controls how much it saturates your sound, the top setting is a little too much for me, but somewhere around the 2 o'clock position is the sweet spot for me, and if you're using this to add gain as well as a boost, you get this grit which doesn't compromise your overall sound, which is something I appreciate as when you play some 'pretty' chord voicings, if you have too much gain/distortion/grit, they certainly don't sound as pretty.

Overall, the Budi G does its job as a boost and then gives you the tools to colour your tone in all the right ways, through the 2-Band EQ, the gritty gain and the level of saturation, it has so many different cases for use, from solo boost to overall tone-shaping. Final points, this pedal won't let you down and would make a fine addition to any pedal board.
